Election petition against CM to be heard on Aug 9
Chandigarh, Aug 2 (UNI) Justice Satish Kumar Mittal of Punjab and Haryana High Court today fixed August nine as the next date of hearing on the petition filed against the election of Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh from Patiala during the state assembly elections in February 2002.
This was done as the counsel for the petitioner sought adjournment to file the affidavit of Harkirat Singh, a voter and an office bearer of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), who has challenged the chief minister's return to the state assembly.
The petition is being re-heard on the directions of the Supreme Court.
