ECI reviews preparations for 2007 polls with officials

Panaji, Aug 2 (UNI) Election Commissioner of India Navin B Chawla today reviewed Goa governments preparations for the elections to be held next year, with top officials.

Mr Chawla met Chief Secretary J P Singh, Director General of Police Sushil Kumar and Chief Electoral Officer Raajiv Yeduvanshi besides the two district collectors at the state guest house.

Clearing of electoral rolls, issue of maximum number of election photo identity cards and handling violations of election commission guidelines, providing ramps for the physically disabled voters were some of the issues discussed.

His visit, according to official sources, was part of the exercise to review the preparations in states where elections are due next year.
