Bhubaneswar, Aug 2 (UNI) The well marked low pressure over North West Bay of Bengal has concentrated into a depression today and lay centred at 100 kms east south coast of Chandbali and is likely to cause heavy rains over Orissa during the next 24 hours.

Met sources here said the system is likely to intensify further and move in the West North Westerly direction and cross North Orissa Coast between Paradip and Balasore coast close to Chandbali by tomorrow morning.

Under its impact, heavy to very heavy rainfalls at few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places will occur during the next 24 hours.

The Met office warned that squally weather with wind speed reaching over 60 km ph was likely to prevail along the off Orissa coast.

The authority had already hoisted the cautionary signal number three at Gopalpur, Puri, Paradip and Chandbali and the fishermen had been advised not to venture into the sea as it would be very rough under the impact of depression.

Meanwhile, incessant rains lashed several parts of coastal and North Orissa for the second day today throwing normal life out of gear. Water in several rivers in the coastal and north Orissa had started rising close to the danger level with the threat of a flash floods.
