Consumer Price Index up by two points
New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) All India Consumer Price Index for industrial workers has increased by two points during June 2006 to 123 points.
As compared to the previous month, the index during June recorded the highest increase of 7 points in one centre (Nagpur).
It increased by five points in another two centres (Labac-Silchar and Kodarma), by four points in Bhavnagar, Rangapara-Tezpur and Giridh, three points in Bhilwara, Faridabad, Himachal Pradesh, Bhilai, Kollam, Bhopal, Varanasi and Ahmedabad), two points in 20 centres and by one point in 30 centres, the Labour ministry said.
The index decreased by two points in one centre (Tiruchirapally) and one point each in four centres (Coonoor, Salem, Guwahati and Chennai). In the remaining nine centres the index remained stationary, the Ministry said.
During the month, the maximum increase of seven points in Nagpur centre was contributed by increase in the prices of rice, wheat, milk, vegetables and fruits and tea(readymade).
On the other hand, Tiruchirapally centre experienced a decrease of two points mainly due to decrease in prices of rice, the Ministry said.
