Chikungunya forces girl to take extreme step
Chennai, Aug 2 (UNI) A 14-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence at Korrukkupet in North Chennai yesterday, police said today.
According to police, Noorjahan learnt that she was suffering from Chikungunya following diagnosis. The girl took the extreme step as she was worried that her parents might not have enough money to provide treatment to her.
A seventh standard student, Noorjahan, who was ailing for the last few days was taken to a nearby nurshing home on Monday, where clinical tests suspected that she might be suffering from Chikungunya, police added.
