The kingpin, police said, included an employee working at the reception counter of a star hotel Taj Exotica in South Goa which deals with scores of foreign guests in this international tourist destination.

The trio allegedly would jot down digital numbers on the credit cards of the hotel guests and then enter them on the internet airline sites to book tickets which they would later sell to customers at almost fifty per cent discount.

The trio began indulging in fraudulent activity since June last and might have made several lakhs of rupees, police said.

The racket came to light when a foreigner from Turkey noticed the entries in the credit card bills and alerted his friend in Goa who lodged a complaint with the crime branch.

The police have warned people to keep the credit/debit cards in safe custody so that their digital numbers are not khown to others to avoid similar hi-tech frauds.
