BJP demands Patil's resignation on Delhi law and order
New Delhi, Aug 2: Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra, BJP Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, today demanded the resignation of Home Minister Shivraj Patil for the worsening law and order situation in Delhi, where seven members of a family were among 11 people murdered two days ago.
The matter was raised during zero hour by Mr Prabhunath Singh (JD-U), stating that the law and order situation was ''very alarming'' in the capital as the criminals hardly had any fear for the Delhi administration or the Centre.
The government should make a statement in the House on the crime situation in the city, he said.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said the ''government should take proper action and investigate'' the recent crimes.
Prof Malhotra said despite the bad security situation the Budget allocation for the Home Ministry had been curtailed. The Delhi Lieutenant Governor was also equally responsible, he contended and urged the Prime Minister to secure the resignation of the Home Minister.
