BJP assails AP's move on Krishna water
Hyderabad, Aug 2 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Official Spokesperson S V Sehsagiri Rao said the government's interlocutory application before the Krishna Water Tribunal on surplus waters under which, he claimed, the government submitted it will not utilise surplus water will hurt the irrigation lands under Krishna Ayacut.
He said the move would undermine the efforts of successive governments to establish the state's right over the surplus waters to sustain ongoing irrigation projects.
Prof Rao said 45 lakh acre of irrigation land under Krishna Water Basin would be affected by the government's submission before the tribunal.
The government's action would hard hit the state's interests on surplus water utilisation, he claimed.
