Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma scheme to be launched on Aug 15
Mysore, Aug 2 (UNI) The ambitious 'Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma' scheme to extend financial help to about two lakh girl children will be launched on August 15, Karnataka Women and Child Welfare Minister H K Kumaraswamy said today.
Addressing newspersons here, he said the implementation of the scheme, which would entitle girl children from below poverty line families to get Rs 10,000 each, had been delayed as the list of beneficiaries was not immediately available.
Stating that the Government proposed to introduce a programme to help physically challenged people, Mr Kumaraswamy said about 1,750 groups would be formed, with each group comprising ten to 15 handicapped people, and each group would be given a subsidy of Rs 25,000 to take up self-employment programmes.
Later, the Minister held a review meeting with the officials regarding the programmes taken up by the Ministry in the district.
