Bailable warrant issued against Rahul Bajaj

Nagpur, Aug 2 (UNI) A civil court here has issued a bailable warrant against Rajya Sabha member and Bajaj Auto chief Rahul Bajaj, in connection with a business case of company's 'Karodpati Hangama' scheme on two-wheelers.

A person, Deorao Satpute had filed a legal case in the civil court here that Bajaj Auto had introduced a scheme of 'Karodpati Hangama', under which Satbir Singh Bedi from Ludhiana was declared the winner on December 6, 1999 and the Rs one crore prize money was given to him. After that, the company continued the scheme without the prize money, which amounted to cheating the customers, Satpute alleged and filed the case against the company in 2000.

The then Magistrate S M Mendjoge had ordered an inquiry into the case section 420 of the IPC and Bombay Lotteries Act, 1958.

Mr Bajaj and others had challenged the magistrate's roder.

However, yesterday when the case came up for hearing, Magistrate R S Bhake issued a bailable warrant of Rs 5,000 each against Mr Bajaj and distributors - Narmada Automobiles.
