Auto-rickshaws go off the road in Patna

Patna, Aug 2 (UNI) Auto-rickshaw drivers today staged demonstration near Patna junction and other localities of the state capital in protest against the alleged manhandling of a driver by police.

They kept their vehicles off the road causing hardship to the commuters.

Deputy police superintendent(traffic) Sheela Irani said here today that a driver of an auto-rickshaw had an altercation with a constable over some issues following which the driver was allegedly beaten by the cops yesterday.

Later the injured driver was admitted to Patna Medical College where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Ms Irani said that efforts were being made to persuade them to resume the auto-rickshaw services.
