Authorities asked to convene meeting of auto drivers

Pondicherry, Aug 2(UNI)The Pondicherry administration has directed the authorities to convene a meeting of autorickshaw drivers here to discuss and regulate the taking of more number of school children into autorickshawas, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the legislative assembly today.

Earlier, making a special mention during zero hour, AIADMK member A Anbazhagan pointed out that autorickshaws were carrying more number of school children causing accidents. A student suffered injuries on his leg in an autorickshow accident today, he said.

Later, participating in the debate on motion of thanks to the Lt Governor for his address, Mr Anbazhagan wondered how the government was selecting students to a private medical college which did not have MCI approval through CENTAC.

Mr Rangasamy replied that only one college here was yet to get the MCI approval and CENTAC was not selecting students for that college.
