31 ISI-baced modules neutralised in one year
New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) As many as 31 ISI-backed espionage modules were neutralised in various parts of the country during January 2005 to July 2006, resulting in arrest of 56 espionage agents including 21 Pakistani resident agents, some of whom had infiltrated through the Indo-Pak Border, the government informed the Lok Sabha today.
Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal in a written reply the Government has been pursuing a well coordinated and multi-pronged approach to tackle the activities of ISI.
This was being done by strengthening the border management to check illegal cross border activities, gearing up the intelligence machinery, close interaction and coordination between different agencies of the Centre and the State Governments for neutralising plans of militants and ISI/anti-national elements and modernisation and upgradation of police and security forces with advanced sophisticated weapons and communication system.
The government was taking action against the espionage agents under the Official Secrets Act etc.
