Two CRPF killed in Sriangar by Jaish-e-Mohammad

Sriangar, Aug 1 (UNI) Militants of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) struck in the city killing two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel at Dalgate on the banks of the Dal Lake this afternoon.

Official sources told UNI that militants shot at two CRPF jawans from a close range at Dalgate.

They said head constable Mohammad Aziz died on the spot while constable Kapil Kumar succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.

The area has been cordoned off and a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants reponsible for the attack.

This was the first attack in the area after six tourists from Kolkata were killed in two grenade blasts on July 11.

A spokesman of JeM has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Police have recently claimed to have arrested two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Mudasir and Bengali. It also claimed to have smashed two modules of LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen who were active in the city.
