Three come off with 4 points in 4th round

Chennai, Aug 1 (UNI) S Nitin, Asian under-14 champion, etched a brilliant victory over the international master T S Ravi in the fourth round of sixth Adyar Times New Millennium FIDE-rated Chess Tournament.

Though Ravi started off well with Carokann defence with black pieces, his early six moves nixed the chances of trouncing the rival. Nitin fought with knights in the forefront and got a commanding position. Ravi lost his Bishop on 22nd move and resigned.

The topseed D P Singh of Jarkhand scored a fluent victory over Mr Vinodh Kumar of Tamil Nadu.

In another duel, Ram S Krishnan defeated Mr J Sridhar in scillian defence game.

Mr Dhivakar Pratap Sing, Mr Ram S Krishnan and FIDE master S Nitin are leading the table with four points each at the end of the fourth round.
