Tea workers wages to be revised

Guwahati, Aug 1 (UNI) The Asom government today proposed revision of minimum wages of unskilled workers in Bought Tea Leaf Factories of the state.

A release said here that the state government had proposed to revise minimum rates of wages of unskilled workers, employed in Bought Tea Leaf Factories at Rs 71 daily as per provision of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

The rates would be revised at the end of two months after taking into consideration any suggestion, submitted by employees or organisations likely to be affected by the revision, the release added.

In addition, the workers would be entitled to Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) to the extent of 75 per cent of the rise or fall in the index point in All India Consumer Price Index for industrial workers.

The VDA rates would be calculated every six months on the basis of the changes in the CPI during the intervening period, the release said.
