New Delhi, Aug 1: Admitting that while landing Prime Minister's aircraft got disconnected with the control tower of the Delhi airport recently, the government today said it has taken steps to avert occurrence of such incidents.

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel said today that the period for which the aircraft did not receive tower transmission was 09 seconds. The communication remained intermittent for a period of 04 minutes and 40 seconds.

''Immediate action was taken to suspend two executives on duty at that time'', Mr Patel said. He said the incident occurred due to the intermittent contact in mike provided at the control tower which caused momentary failure of communication between the control tower and the Prime Minister's aircraft.

He said the government has issued instructions to avoid recurrence of such incidents. Supervision of VVIP movement and coordination of VIP aircraft is performed by senior officers on duty present at that time in the control tower. Besides, mandatory checks have also been introduced for services and facilities, he said.
