Stage set for second phase polls in AP
Hyderabad, Aug 1 (UNI) The stage is set for the second phase of Gram Panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh amidst tight security particulary in the naxal-infested areas as also faction-prone areas tomorrow.
The State Election Commission was fully geared to hold the elections in a free and fair manner, official sources said.
As violence marred the first phase of polls, police intensified security arrangements particularly in the sensitive and Hyper-sensitive villages.
Ahead of the polls, the police conducted surprise raids and recovered hundreds of bombs from faction-prone areas of the Palnadu region in Guntur district, police sources said.
The poll would be held in 7886 gram panchayats and 75612 wards in 28 revenue divisions on non-party basis.
