SAAP invites nominations for Padma awards

Hyderabad, Aug 1 (UNI)The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh(SAAP) today invited nominations and recommendations for Padma Awards-2007, for eminent sportsmen in the state.

The awards would be presented on Republic Day on January 26, 2007 by President of India.

The awards are given for distinguished services in Arts, Literature, Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science and Engineering, including Government service, according to an official press release here.

All persons without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for the awards. The recommendations and nominations should reach the Deputy Secretary to Government (Law and Order), General Adminstration Department on or before August 31, the release said.
