One more nabbed in MP's daughter suicide case
Jabalpur, Aug 1 (UNI) One more person has been arrested in connection with the suicide of Damoh BJP MP Chandrabhan Singh's 19-year-old daughter but the youth who is prime accused in abetting the crime, is still eluding the police net.
''Deepika hanged herself from a fan on July 30 at her residence near the local Wright Town area's Arun Dairy. Based on a suicide note, a case was registered under section 306 IPC against youth Dhiraj Chandwani, his father Suresh, sister Manisha, friend Sonu Sen and two others,'' said City Superintendent of Police Siddharth Chaudhry.
Suresh and Manisha were apprehended on July 30 itself and CJM Philippa rejected the former's bail plea but handed over Manisha to her paternal uncle Kishan as she is a minor.
''Mr Singh filed a false complaint. Deepika and Dhiraj loved each other and got married at Nagpur in June. Later, Mr Singh pressurised Deepika to terminate the relationship and restricted her in a room,'' Kishan said in an application.
Sen was nabbed late last night.
The typed and signed suicide note, found in the room where Deepika took the extreme step, said she became friendly with Dhiraj who managed a general store. The duo eloped and got married at Nagpur on June 8. She killed herself as the accused were pressurising her for Rs 10 lakh.
''Today, we also found a letter written by Deepika to Dhiraj on May 19 at Delhi. It said that her parents forcibly took her to the national capital. However, the note mentioned that Dhiraj forced Deepika to pen the letter,'' the officer added.
