Neusoft Group in pact with Trivitron

Bangalore, Aug 1 (UNI) Marking its foray into India, Neusoft Group, China's largest medical technology solutions provider, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Trivitron, a leading medical equipment manufacturer in the country, to produce five high-end medical equipment.

Informing this to newspersons here today, Group Chairman Zheng Qualu said his group, looking to exploit both the talent base and huge market potential, decided to set up its second manufacturing unit outside China joining hands with Trivitron, either in Bangalore or Chennai.

He said the two firms would manufacture medical equipment such as CT scanners, laser images, linear accelerators, bio analyser and lab equipment.

Mr Qualu said that with the setting up of the manufacturing unit, the cost of healthcare in the country would come down, besides facilitating access to modern medical technology.

Trivitron Managing Director Dr Velu, who also spoke on the occasion, said the total volume of medical equipment market in the country was around two billion US Dollar and it was expected to touch about ten billion Dollar by 2010. Presently, the country was totally dependent on the overseas market for high-end medical equipment.

He said the joint venture aimed at achieving an annual turnover of Rs 100 crore by 2007. The manufacturing facility was expected to offer employment opportunities to over 1,000 people in the next three years. The large number of healthcare facilities set up across the country and the growth of medical insurance were bound to propel the need for world-class, yet affordable medical technologies.
