Maruti hikes WagonR, Esteem prices

New Delhi, Aug 1: Maruti Udyog Ltd today hiked prices of most of its models, including Maruti 800, Wagon R-LPG, Esteem, Alto and Omni by Rs 500 to Rs 5000, citing rise in the input and freight costs.

The maximum of the increase has come about in the newly-launched LPG version of the popular WagonR model by Rs 5000. The new price for WagonR-LPG (Lxi) has been fixed at Rs 3,73,160. For the WagonR-LPG (Lx) the new tag is at Rs 3,45,106.

The company has increased the price for its oldest and entry level model Maruti 800 by only Rs 500. This car will now cost Rs 1,91,646.

Alto (standard) price has been revised to Rs 2,31,585 whereas for the Alto Lx the price is Rs 2,65,262. The increase works out to Rs 500.

The price of Omni-- cargo and eight seater-- has also been revised by Rs 500, whereas for the LPG variant the revision is by Rs 3,000.

In both the versions of Esteem, the price rise works out Rs 1000.

The increase varies from 0.17 per cent to 1.47 per cent and comes into effect from today, a company statement said.

In this phase, the company has decided to pass on only a part of the increase in costs to the customers.

The prices of some of its models including Swift, Zen, Baleno (Vxi) and WagonR (Petrol) have been kept unchanged.
