Maoist attack CRPF camp in West Bengal
Midnapore, Aug 1 (UNI) Maoists attacked a CRPF camp Chhurimara village under Belparai police station in West Bengal late last night and the ensuing encounter continued till the wee hours of today.
Heavily armed ultras attacked the camp after midnight and the forces retaliated resulting in trading of fire till the wee hours.
West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Ajay Nand said the firing continued throughout the night, but no casualty was reported from either side till now.
Para military forces stationed at Belpahari, Kankrajhore and Jamtalgarh could not move at night fearing reprisals.
Police is combing the entire forest region bordering Jharkhand and adjoining Purulia district to apprehend the ultras.
Police suspect the attack was to avenge the recent arrest of a local MCC leader Jagannath Sardar from Siorbindha forest.
