M R D Dattan dead
Kochi, Aug 1 (UNI) Noted sculptor and painter M R D Dattan died of cancer here this morning.
He was 73 and survived by his wife, one son and four daughters.
The eminent artist and sculptor, who was suffering from cancer of the bladder, died at the Indira Gandhi Hospital here this morning.
The funeral is scheduled to take place tomorrow, family sources said.
A fellow of the State Lalit Kala Akademi, Dattan was well known for his sculpture of 'Kesavan' (elephant) near the famous Guruvayur temple. He had also made statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Vivekananda and Dr B R Ambedkar.
