LIC employee slain; lakhs looted

Sidhi, MP, Aug 1 (UNI) An LIC employee was killed and Rs 10 lakh looted by three unidentified robbers today at Baidhan in Sidhi district that borders Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district.

''At about noon, Asst Administrative Officer Khemchand Khote was en route to a bank for depositing Rs 10.67 lakh. He was accompanied by peon Pannalal Yadav. The accused were waiting to ambush and attempted to snatch the bag from the peon. When he protested, the trio opened fire with a crude pistol,'' said Addl SP B S Chouhan.

Yadav was declared dead at a hospital. The criminals fled on a motorbike. An alert was sounded in Sonbhadra's Shaktinagar, Antara and Beejpur police station limits.
