'K'taka showing discrimination in developing backward areas'
Gulbarga, Aug 1 (UNI) The All India Progressive Janata Dal (AIPJD) today charged the Karnataka Government with showing discrimination in developing backward areas in the state.
Addressing a press conference here, Former Karnataka Legislative Council Deputy Chairman and AIPJD MLA B R Patil alleged that of the Rs 43 crore sanctioned for develomental activities, Rs 41 crore had been allocated to constituencies represented by MLAs from the ruling BJP-JD(S). Similarly about 300 high schools and 135 junior colleges had been sanctioned to these select constituencies, neglecting constituencies represented by legislators of Congress and other parties, he claimed.
He demanded the implementation of the Nanjundappa Committee report on regional imbalance in toto.
The naxal-infested Chincholi had not been sanctioned a single high school and it remained under developed, he pointed out, adding that socio-economic development was essential to contain naxal influence.
