Jail inmates undertake fast during 'Shravan' month

Ujjain, MP, Aug 1 (UNI) Several jail inmates in this religious town's old central Bhairavgarh jail are undertaking fasts and offering 'pujas' to Lord Shiva in the holy 'Shravan' month.

''More than 75 inmates are being provided bananas and 'Sabudana khichadi' every day as a part of fruit diet,'' Central Jail Superintendent Manshram Patel told UNI.

Besides reading of 'Sundarkand' and 'Ramayana', yoga was practiced by prisoners in the jail, which has about 2,200 inmates, he added.
