Evacuees returning home from relief camps
Surat, Aug 1 (UNI) As there was a respite in rainfall today in south Gujarat area, evacuees started returning to their homes from relief camps, sources said.
Flood control room in Navsari district informed that most of the evacuees have returned to their homes from the relief camps.
''Today there was no heavy rainfall in Navsari and the water level in Poorna, Ambika and Kaveri rivers also receeded much below the danger levels,'' an officilal at Navsari flood control room informed UNI. In Surat all the talukas received an average rainfall of 13 mm, informed the district flood control room.
The situation in Ukkai dam is 16 feet below danger level and the water level in Kakarpara dam is 15 feet below danger level. The water level in Amli dam is 4 feet below danger level, informed district flood control room.
They have also informed that the evacuees from Olpad and Kamrej talukas started returning to their homes.
According to Valsad district information, the rainfall was relatively low today, but there can be a strong wind at a speed of 35 to 55 km per hour and fishermen have been warned against going into the sea. Talukas in the Dangs district received an average rainfall of 20 mm today, but no untoward incident was reported.
