Dutch report suspected low-pathogenic bird flu

AMSTERDAM, Aug 1 (Reuters) Dutch authorities have detected a possible case of low-pathogenic bird flu in the central region of Gelderse Vallei, the agriculture ministry said today.

A ministry spokesman could not immediately give details whether the suspected case was among commercial poultry or wild birds.

Dutch ANP news agency quoted the ministry as saying that the suspected strain was different from the H7N7 strain which hit the Netherlands in 2003 and led to the culling of a third of the poultry flock.
