Direction for integration of hospitals with AU

Allahabad, Aug 1 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has directed Allahabad University Steering Committee to take necessary steps for integration of Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital, Allahabad and its associated hospitals with the Allahabad University (AU).

The Court directed that the integration be completed on or before October 1, 2006.

The court has also asked the varsity to inform the HC with the steps taken in this direction on August 25, 2006.

The bench comprising Justices S Ambawani and Dilip Gupta passed this order on a PIL filed by Satish Chaturvedi.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government had filed an application raising objections about the integration.

The varsity executive council had also requested to include the children's hospital and eye hospital, associated with the college to be included for being maintained by the AU.

The minutes of the steering committee meeting held on May 23, 2006 were placed before the court.

The court also said three hospitals in Allahabad -- S R N Hospital, S R N Children Hospital and M D Eye Hospital -- have to be given uninterrupted power.
