Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide in Karnataka
Belgaum, Aug 1 (UNI) Unable to bear the huge loss following the destruction of potato crop due to heavy rains, a 35-year-old farmer committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Bagewadi village in this district of Karnataka.
Police said today that Kallappa Kuranji took the extreme step yesterday as he had borrowed money to cultivate potato in his two-acre plot, but lost the whole crop due to incessent rains.
