Court rejects Pravin's bail plea
Mumbai, Aug 1 (UNI) A local court today rejected the bail plea of Pravin Mahajan, who is accused of killing his elder brother and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan.
Rejecting the bail plea, Additional Sessions Judge Abhay Thipsay observed that prima facie case is made out against the accused.
Hence, it is a fit case for rejection.
The court also agreed with the prosecution's submission that the accused was involved in a serious crime and may tamper with evidence if released on bail.
Pravin had earlier moved a bail plea after he was being chargesheeted by the local court here. He had then argued before the court that he had already been chargesheeted and investigation in the case was over, therefore the court should grant him bail to enable him to prepare his defence.
The court was also told that the accused would not make any attempt to tamper with evidence and would abide by all the terms and conditions, if granted bail.
Pravin, who is at present lodged in the high-security cell of Arthur Road Jail, was arrested by the Worli police station on April 22 for allegedly shooting his elder brother Pramod.
