Army havildar drowned

Sagar, MP, Aug 1 (UNI) Four army personnel were swept away after a recovery van, of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers, plunged into the Bawna river along the Sagar-Vidisha road but three jawans managed to swim to safety while a havildar drowned, police said.

The van was en route to Bhopal from Sagar Cantonment when the mishap occurred at 1700 hrs over a bridge spanning the river.

Havildar Rooplal's body was found this morning along the riverbank. The deceased belonged to Himachal Pradesh's Mandi area.
