Amit Jogi granted bail

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) A city court today granted bail to Amit Jogi, son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in connection with sting operations conducted by a media house regarding grant of mining rights in the state in 2003.

Patiala House Court Special Judge Indermeet Kaur Kochhar granted bail to Jogi after furnishing a personal bail bond of Rs two lakh and a surety of the same amount.

The court ordered him to deposit his passport.

Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest in the BJP-led NDA regime Dilip Singh Judeo and four others were caught on camera while allegedly accepting money in a hotel for granting mining rights in Chhattisgarh on November 16, 2003, the CBI alleged.

''Amit Jogi had allegedly arranged the entire gamut of operation to nab Judeo while taking cash-on-camera,'' according to a senior CBI offcial.

Earlier on April 18, the court had granted bail to Judeo, his private secretary Natwar Singh Rateria, Arvind Vijay Mohan, Rajat Prasad and Bhupinder Singh Patel.

Amit is also an accused in the alleged murder of Chhattisgarh Nationalist Congress Party treasurer Ram Avtar Jaggi and is presently on bail.
