Vice Admiral J S Bedi new Commander-in-Chief of SNC
Kochi, July 31 (UNI) Vice-Admiral Jagjit Singh Bedi formally took over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command (SNC) from Vice Admiral S C S Bangara at a ceremonial parade held at the naval base here today.
A Communication and Electronic Warfare specialist, Vice Admiral Bedi was commissioned in July 1969 and had held various key appointments prior to the new appointment.
He served as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy and Plans), Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command and Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet.
In his farewell speech, Admiral Bangara said the significance of the Navy in promoting national and regional security was increasing and this fact was not only acknowledged in India but also in neighbouring countries.
The Navy was poised for a very challenging and bright future, he added.
Vice Admiral Bangara retired from the Naval service after an illustrious career of about 40 years.
