Vernacular daily translator arrested
Mumbai, July 31 (UNI) A translator, who was earlier working with a vernacular daily, was nabbed from Mira Road in the neighbouring Thane district by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) sleuths for his alleged involvement in the unlawful activities.
Confirming the arrest, ATS Joint Commissioner of Police K P Raghuvanshi said one Danish Riaz Khan (25) was arrested yesterday for being an active member of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
However, he denied that the accused was held in connection with the July 11 serial train blasts.
Mr Raghuvanshi said Khan, who had earlier been employed by a leading vernacular daily as translator, was removed from the service by the management about a month ago.
The accused will be produced in the court later in the day, he added.
