Two ULFA cadres killed in encounter in Asom

Guwahati, July 31 (UNI) The ULFA cadres, who were involved in a bomb blast in the city recently which left seven people dead, were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Nalbari in Asom.

Official sources said they were identifed as Bhupen Lahkar and Hementa Deka.

Security personnel from Asom police, CRPF and army jointly raided a hideout at Arora village in Bahjani to arrest them.

The ultras instead of surrending fired from their weapons on the security men, who immediately retaliated killing the two.

Lahkar was the mastermind behind the Machkhowa blast in Guwahati in which seven people have died, police added. Deka was also involved in the bombing operation of the ULFA, police said.
