Treasury, opposition members clash in J
Srinagar, July 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Assembly today witnessed noisy scenes twice during the question hour when the treasury and opposition members clashed over the security situation and strike by Jammu Bar Association.
The House will discuss the security situation in the state on Friday, announced speaker Tara Chand.
As the proceedings began in the House, a number of members from Jammu were on their feet demanding a statement from the government over the month-long strike of Jammu Bar Association (JBA).
The members said people of Jammu are suffering because of the strike by the lawyers.
The JBA is demanding transfer of sex scandal case from Srinagar to Jammu.
Besides two former ministers, additional advocate general, senior IAS officer, BSF and police officials are involved in the sex racket.
The main opposition party National Conference (NC) members were on their feet demanding immediate discussion on an adjournment motion moved by them on security situation in the state.
Leader of the Opposition Abdul Rahim Rather said the House should discuss the issue as the law and order situation has worsened.
Nothing was heard in the din after almost all the members were trying to put their point.
The Speaker ruled that the happening in the Kashmir Valley were going on for the past 17 years, therefore adjournment cannot be admitted. However, he ruled that there will be a a full discussion on the issue on Friday.
Intervening, Chief Miniser Ghulam Nabi Azad said security of the people was a concern to all. It needs a debate and members can debate it after Friday prayers.
