Son shoots father

Kohima, Jul 31 (UNI) An elderly man was critically injured when his drunken son reportedly fired at him with a muzzle loading gun at Nerhema Model Village under Kohima district after his demand for money was denied by the victim.

Official sources said that the victim identified as Zashire Virie (77), suffered several pallet injuries around his groin and thigh region when his eldest son Vituolie (30) shot at him in his residence at around 1445 hours yesterday in an inebriated condition.

On hearing the gunshot villagers rushed to his residence and overpowered Vituolie, who was later handed over to police and rushed Zashire to Naga Hospital here, who is undergoing treatment.

A case has been registered in Chiephobozou Police outpost and charge sheet being prepared against the habitual drunk Vituolie, sources said.
