Sensex opens 79 pts up on strong global sentiments
Mumbai, July 31: Bombay Stock Exchange sensitive index (Sensex) today opened 79 points up at 10,759.19 as compared to the previous close of 10,680.23 points on account of strong global rally.
The Sensex is currently trading at 10,808 points, which is 128 points up from the previous close of 10,680 points.
The Asian stocks today edged higher and the key benchmark indices in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore were up between 0.4-1.0 per cent.
All the sectoral indices on the BSE were trading in the green led by capital goods, which are up 2.11 per cent.
Major losers are Grasim Industries and HLL, which are down by 0.72 to 1.30 per cent.
The gainers are BHEL, Satyam, ICICI, Wipro, Tata Motors, Maruti and Reliance Communications, all up between 1.91 and 3.84 per cent.
