Rupee strengthens by 13 paise at 46.55/USD

Mumbai, July 31: Indian Rupee today strengthened by 13 paise to close at 46.55 per US dollar, as compared to the previous close of 46.68 per US dollar, said a trader in the money market.

Rupee earlier opened at 46.54 per US Dollar and in the mid-morning session traded at 46.50 per USD.

RBI today fixed the reference rate at Rs 46.51/USD, as compared to the previous rate of 46.56 per USD.

The six-month forward premia was flat at 1.08 per cent and the one year forward premia was also up at 1.16 per cent.

However, rupee did not perform well against other currencies, against euro it was down at Rs 59.39 (59.11), against pound sterling it was down at Rs 86.80 (86.59) and against yen it was down at Rs 40.72 (40.33)
