Privatisation to affect industry: Sports Minister
Barrackpore, Jul 31 (UNI) West Bengal Transport Minister Subhas Chakrabarty today came down heavily on the role of state government in respect to privatisation of industries, which 'jeopardise the basic tenets of Marxist ideology'.
Addressing the 58th anniversary of the state-owned Calcutta State Transport Corporation, Mr Chakrabarty said the way the companies are privatised, the workers and employees should come forward to resist the move.
''Changes are inevitable but not at the cost of poor work force,'' Mr Chakrabarty pointed out.
''The CSTC would go to the private hands in future in the name of restructuring,'' the Minister said.
The Transport Minister flagged off a number of new buses, inducted to the CSTC fleet, to provide services through four existing routes originating from Belgharia, Paikpara, Howrah and Taratala.
CSTC chairman Kashinath Behra and Managing Director Ashok Bhattacharya were among others who spoke on the occasion.
