Print media has importance despite news channels
Navi Mumbai, Jul 31: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said, despite the presence of many electronic news channels, the importance of print media is always there.
At a function to inaugurate the modern printing press of Indian Express group of newspapers at Mahape here, Mr Deshmukh said print media has its own importance in day-to-day life of common man.
He said the group's Marathi edition 'Loksatta' was his favourite daily and urged the management to start the Delhi as well as the Latur editions of the same. He said Delhi has got a large chunk of Marathi readers and that the group should also start its edition in a rural area like Latur.
On the occasion, Excise minister Ganesh Naik said people have faith in the newspapers of Express group.
Navi Mumbai Mayor Manisha Bhoir was also present on the occasion.
Indian Express group Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta welcomed the guests while Loksatta Editor Kumar Ketkar proposed vote of thanks.
