Pondy Budget evokes mixed reactions

Pondicherry, July 31 (UNI) The annual budget presented by Chief Minister N Rangasamy in the Territorial Assembly today evoked mixed reactions.

While, the DPA constituents welcomed the Budget, the Opposition parties criticised it.

Welcoming the proposals, PMK Parliamentary Party Leader Ramadass said the Budget would help spur socio-economic development of the downtrodden in the union territory.It would also help in the development of infrastructure.

State DMK Convenor and Former Chief Minister R V Janakiraman said the Budget would be beneficial to all sections of the society.

CPI State Secretary Na Ra Kalainathan said the tax-free Budget would be beneficial to all and stressed the government should keep up the commttment of not imposing any tax, in future also.

Criticising the Budget, AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan and PMC Legislature Party Leader K Lakshminarayanan, in separate statements, said there was nothing new in the Budget and the schemes were a reproduction of old proposals.
