Orissa Assembly adjourned for the day

Bhubaneswar, Jul 31(UNI) The opening day of the monsoon session of the Orissa Assembly was adjourned for the day after passing obituary references on sitting member Gajadhar Majhi,one former minister and four former members besides a former sepoy of the Indian Army.

As soon as the house assembled for the day at 1100 hours Chief Minister and leader of the house Navin Patnaik stood up to move the obituary references and offered his tributes to the departed souls.

Later,leader of Opposition J B Pattnaik,BJP legislature Party leader B B Harichandan,JMM MLA Bimal Lochan Das,OGP MLA U K Parida, CPI MLA Narayan Reddy and others also participated in the motion and expressed their profound grief at the demise of former members.

Speaker Maheswar Mohanty also joined in condoling the passing away of the members.The house observed two minutes' silence to pay its tribute to sitting member Gajadhar Majhi,former minister Gangadhar Mohapatra,former members Achyutananda Mahakar,Chakradhar Satpathy,Jageteswar Mirdha,Purna Chandra Deo and sepoy Sangram Keshari.

Mr.Mohanty then declared the house adjourned till 1030 hours tomorrow.
