Nine SIMI activists arrested from Jabalpur
Jabalpur, July 31: In a major crackdown on SIMI, police arrested nine activists last night in the wake of 7/11 Mumbai transit blasts.
''Nine SIMI activists were arrested here during a special drive carried out on the basis of information about their presence in Gohalpur and Hanumantal areas. 'Tarhik' and 'Moment' books were seized from them,'' City Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh said.
Those arrested were identified as Sarfaraz, Haminuddin, Pervez Majid, Jameel Majid, Sarfaraz Ibrahim, Khurshid, Ashfak, Javed and Wasinuddin.
A mobile phone, belonging to SIMI activist Imran Ansari, who was arrested in Khandwa recently, was seized from Sarfraz.
Based on Imran's confession, the drive to nab SIMI activists was launched last evening.
Besides, Mr Singh said several people had been taken into custody and were being interrogated for ascertaining their links with the SIMI.
