Srinagar, July 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Human Rights (HR) Commission Chairman Justice (retd) Ali Mohammad Mir today resigned from his post.

''Yes, I have resigned from the chairmanship of the HR commission,'' Justice Mir told UNI.

He said the Jammu and Kashmir government was not serious about the functioning of the commission.

''From day one, I was urging the government to strengthen the commission for speedy justice to people,'' he said, adding but nothing happened ''forcing me to resign''.
