HIV positives with positive attitude

Aizawl, Jul 31 (UNI) Despite the specter of death hovering over them, the members of the Positive Network of Mizoram (PNM), infected with HIV, their buoyant and positive outlook is clearly indicated by an increase in their estimated budget collection.

The PNM members in a general assembly held here today disclosed the budget collection estimate of Rs 50,000 for 2005-06 was exceeded by over Rs 12,000 and accepted a budget collection of Rs 1,00,000 for the year 2006-07.

The assembly had demanded a CD4 counter by next year to count the blood platelets and generation of employment of the HIV infected ones.

It was also decided that the organisation would continue the advocacy awareness in all the districts of the state.

Established in September 2004 PNM has a current strength of 365 members with an objective to spread awareness regarding the deadly HIV/AIDS and stop further spread of the disease.

It seeks to improve the living standards of the affected ones by providing necessary medication and livelihood.
