Golf-Pavin ends victory drought at Milwaukee Open

CHICAGO, July 31 (Reuters) Corey Pavin won his first PGA Tour title in a decade at the Milwaukee Open in Wisconsin completing a wire-to-wire victory by two shots.

Boosted by an eagle-two at the eighth where he holed out from 172 yards, the 46-year-old American fired a three-under-par 67 to finish on 20-under 260 yesterday.

Local favourite and Wisconsin native Jerry Kelly also shot a 67 to finish alone in second place with twice champion Jeff Sluman (64) a further stroke back in third.

Pavin, who had not been in the winner's circle since the 1996 Colonial tournament, began the final round two strokes clear and effectively sealed victory after doubling his lead by the turn.

Although he failed to pick up another shot on the back nine and was chased hard by playing partner Kelly, he held on to claim the 15th PGA Tour title of his career.
