Gagan, Temang disappoint at World Shooting Championships
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) Indians continued to disappoint at the ISSF World Shooting Championships with Pemba Temang finishing ninth in the Rapid Fire Pistol event and Gagan Narang ending 59th in the 50m rifle 3 P section of the tournament at Zagreb, Croatia.
Pemba shot a score of 579 with stage I -- 289 (97,95,97) and stage II -- 290 (98,97,95). Vijay Kumar finished 34th in the same event with a score of 569. Vijay shot a stage I score of 286 (98,94,94) and a stage II score of 283 (96,97,90). Ramkishan Yadav finished 42nd with a score of 566 (285+281).
The Gold in this event was won by Zhang Penghui of China with a score of 786.6 (583+203.6), Silver was won by Liu Zhongsheng of China with a score of 781.7 (582+199.7) while Sergei Alifirenko of Russia claimed the Bronze with a score of 778.9 (582+196.9).
In the team event, India finished sixth with a score of 1714. The Gold was won by China, which created a new world record with a score of 1743, while Russia won the Bronze with a score of 1736.
Meanwhile, Gagan shot a score of 1136 in the 50m rifle 3 P event with Prone 385 (98,95,96,96), Standing 371 (93,92,96,90) and Kneeling 380 (96,95,93,96). Sanjeev Rajput finished 60th with a score of 1136.
Artem Khadjibekov of Russia won the Gold with a score of 1273.5 (1176+97.5), Silver was won by Stevan Pletikosic (1269.1) of Serbia with a score of, while Lei Zhang of China won the Bronze with a score of 1268.4.
In the Jr Men event Bikramjit Dhillon finished 65th with a score of 1073 with Prone 382 (96,91,97,98), Standing 332 (84,79,88,81) and Kneeling 359 (89,86,92,92). The Gold in this event was won by Yifei Cao of China with a score of 1158, Silver was won by Vaclav Haman (1156) of Czech Republic while Daniel Brodmier of Germany won the Bronze with a score of 1155.
